Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School is now a Directly Licenced Centre (DLC), delivering the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award scheme to all interested students in Year 8 prior to starting their journey in Year 9.

We are able to offer all levels: Bronze (year 9-10), Silver (year 10) and Gold (year 11-12).

The DofE Award is a challenging programme of activities which will help each participant develop new skills, grow in confidence to help others and experience adventures. Achievements are widely recognised in education and employment. The school supports the participant in many ways, for example through training and information sessions with advice and encouragement to help each individual stay focused and on track to achieve their Award.

Each Award has four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skill and Expedition. The Gold Award has an additional fifth section; Residential.

Expeditions

In the past we have run the following camping expeditions

Bronze – 2 days walking in the Vale of Belvoir

Silver – 3 days walking in the Peak District

Gold – 4 days UK Coast to Coast cycling, cycling and walking the Normandy beaches (France)

KGGS DofE dedicated team

Our inhouse DofE team, Mrs Laura Robins and Mrs Britta Bayman manage all of our award programmes - they monitor progress through each section and are available throughout the day offering support and encouragement.

We are very lucky to be able to offer fantastic quality rucksacks, tents, cooking stoves, compasses, map cases, and touring bikes to loan our adventurers.

Many teachers and parents have contributed to the success of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme by donating their time to supervise on expeditions. If you would like to become involved please contact email DofE@kestevengrantham.lincs.sch.uk for further information.
